Laura Pontecorvo, baroque flute

Studied flute with M. Eckstein, P. L. Graf and M. Hantai. Since 1993 she is involved in historical performance practice performing all over the world. Since 1998, she plays as first flute with Concerto Italiano (Rinaldo Alessandrini) and collaborates permanently with various  ensembles like Accademia Bizantina, La Cappella della Pietà dei Turchini , Divino Sospiro, Europa Galante, Accordone, L’Arte dell’arco  and smaller groups of chamber music playing  baroque and classical flute.

Main performances including Het Concertgebouw( Amsterdam), Gotham  Early music foundation at Lincoln Center (New York),  Kioi Hall ( Tokio), La Folle Journee  (Tokyo) , Theatre des Champs Elysees and Theatre des Bouffes du Nord ( Paris ), Accademia nazionale di S .Cecilia (Rome)  Accademia filarmonica romana (Rome), Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Teatro Municipal in Santiago del Cile and in Rio de Janeiro, Sociedad de cultura artistica of Sao Paulo, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and many others. She performed as a soloist in Japan, United States, Nederland, Colombia, France, Israel, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Austria.

She recorded for Opus 111, Naive, Brilliant, Stradivarius and Dynamic.With Helianthus ensemble she recorded in 2012 for Brilliant classic a CD featuring Giovanni Battista Buonamente repertoire performed with the copies of the instruments of the Sacro Convento of Assisi’s collection. In occasion of the 2014 anniversary of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach birth, a new CD has been released by the same label, with Bach quartets for obbligato harpsichord, flute and viola. She currently teaches chamber music at the Ferrara State Conservatory (Italy) and baroque flute at the Terni, Institute of high musical studies.

She has been invited to teach a master classes at Escola Superior de musica de Lisboa and Porto (Portugal), at Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid (Spain) and at Universitat fur Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien (Austria). During her recent sabbatical year she has been involved in a research in the archive of Assisi S. Francis Convent, about the origin of the collection of musical instruments currently conserved in their library.
