Lia Serafini, baroque singing

Lia Serafini, soprano, gained a diploma in piano at the Conservatory of Vicenza, and has since 1986 dedicated herself to the study of song under Malcolm King e Marie Térèse Boiton Rivoli, specialising in the baroque and chamber repertory, and now her expressive and agile voice is an appreciate reference-point for the Baroque performances.

Her concert activities are flanked by her work also in the theatre; she has been involved in performances of a number of operas from the repertory of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as C. Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Galuppi’s Il mondo alla roversa (which CD live recording has obtein the Premio internazionale A.Vivaldi Fondazione Cini award), Peri’s Euridice and Mozart’s Idomeneo.

Lia has worked as a soloist with numerous groups and orchestras including: Accademia Bizantina, O.Dantone; La Cappella dei Turchini, A.Florio; Concerto Italiano, R.Alessandrini; Janas ensemble, P.Erdas, she has for eight years collaborated (choir and soloist) with the productions of the Radio della Svizzera italiana (RSI), directed by Diego Fasolis. She has song in prestigious festivals and venues such as Resonanzen (Konzerthaus,Wien), Laus Polyphoniae (Anversa), Ambraser Schlosskonzerte (Innsbruck), Settimane musicali di Ascona, Festival Musica Antiqua (Bruges), Euroconcert (Barcelona), Conciertos de Navidad (Madrid), Tricentenaire de La Monnaie (Bruxelles), Settembre musica (Torino), Musica e poesia a San Maurizio (Milano), Festival Claudio Monteverdi (Cremona).

Since 1998 she works regularly with La Cappella Reial de Catalunya directed by Jordi Savall.

She has made numerous recordings for radio, especially for Rete2 of the Radio Svizzera Italiana and Radio 3, and for record companies such as Symphonia, Tactus, Dynamic, Stradivarius, Amadeus, Musique en Wallonie, Sarxs Rds. and Chandos, obtaining recognition and critical acclaim.

Early music review”: The music was superb, and it was well performed by a fairly large orchestra and choir, and a good line of soloist, among whom the soprano Lia Serafini-.

Lia is  professor of Renaissance and baroque singing at the “Bonporti” Conservatory in Trento.
